Awarder teacher for excellent pedagogical work at the International Ballet competition “Little Stars (2017)”
Demetra Theodorou started to participate in rhythmic gymnastics competition at the very early age, winning top places in Cyprus championships. She then joined the Cyprus National Team and attended international meetings.
Later, she changed course and started classic ballet. In 1997 she was accepted at the Sofia National Ballet Academy, in Bulgaria, Pancho Vladigerov, where she studied the art of dancing next to excellent teachers, such as Kalina Bogoeva, Milena Simeonova, Fani Tcherneva, Tsveta Petkova and others. In 2001 she graduated, receiving a BA in Ballet Pedagogics.
She has participated in the International Ballet Competition of Varna and the International Ballet Competition of Luxembourg, in the years 2000 and 2003 respectively. She also attended Master seminars for professional dancers at the Opera of Sofia in 2002, as well as the seminar International de dance Varna in the years 1999, 2000 and 2001.
As a professional dancer she dance with the academy of Sofia’s dance company in Bulgaria and Greece for performances such as: the Sleeping Beauty, Giselle, Don Quixote and others. She has also cooperated with various dance companies, such as Diastasi and the Neoclassical Dance Company LLDC, dancing in Cyprus and abroad (Novi Sad, Serbia).
Since 2004 she is operating “The Ballet Center”, offering her knowledge and experience to young people. She keeps on educating by attending various seminars for ballet, repertoire, musical motor education and other topics. The school is a member of the Professional Association of dancing teachers in Cyprus and is certified from the Ministry of Education and all local authorities. It is also the official examination center for the Vaganova educational system, which is acknowledged internationally.
Demetra Theodorou was awarded by academician Kalina Bogoeva for excellent padagogical wotk in Little Stars Ballet competition 2017 in Sofia Bulgaria.
